Silver and copper being natural metals , they can tarnish over time, for various reasons: friction with clothes, contact with the acidity of the skin, water and soap residue, etc. . This results from a completely natural chemical reaction, called oxidation .
But then, how can we protect our precious jewelry from the effects of time ?
Good news, oxidation is in no way permanent! Regular maintenance and careful use help maintain the shine of our rings, necklaces and earrings. Here are some tips:
- Do not wear your jewelry while showering and sleeping
- Also put them on during your sports sessions or during physical exertion in general (moving, gardening, cleaning, etc.)
- Keep them in their original box when not wearing them
- Wipe regularly with a microfiber cloth to revive the natural shine of metal and stone
- Let your jewelry soak in white vinegar for a few hours then rinse it with lukewarm water
- Dilute baking soda in lukewarm water then soak your jewelry in it for a few hours
- A toothbrush with very soft bristles can be used to scrub and remove residue of dust, oxidation, etc.
Be careful though: not all stones can withstand contact with water! If you have any doubts, contact me directly for personalized advice on the care of your Caravelle Noire jewelry.
