Historically speaking, the creation of runes is shrouded in mystery (in fact, their name comes from the word “secret” in Old Norse!). They are believed to have been created 1800 to 2000 years ago by ancient Germanic peoples, and used by many Nordic and Celtic peoples . From a religious point of view, it is said that Old Futhark was discovered by the father of the gods of Norse mythology: Odin himself.
